Earlier this year the previous MTAA Board announced that a decision was made to dissolve the Board and transition the basketball, baseball and softball programs to Manchester Township. The Board felt that this transition would assure that these programs would continue to run successfully into the future.
Since that announcement I have spoken to many of you who were disappointed with this decision and wanted to see our very successful MTAA baseball and softball programs continue as a volunteer organization committed to continuing to teach our youth the many wonderful lessons that sports provides. In fact many parents told me that they would be willing to step up and help MTAA to continue to be one of the premier youth sports programs in York County.
On Sunday November 8th the MTAA Board of Directors chose to reverse this decision and voted in a new Board which is committed to continuing MTAA baseball and softball. As President of the new MTAA Board of Directors I can tell you I am very excited about this opportunity to continue the rich MTAA youth sports tradition while also moving the program in a new exciting direction.
The new MTAA is committed to being inclusive and transparent. Board meetings will be open to all and we will welcome any parent who wants to get involved and be part of an even better MTAA. While basketball will be managed by Manchester Township, baseball and softball will continue to be run by the volunteers of MTAA.
If you are part of the MTAA family and want to learn more or get more involved, our next Board meetings will be on Sunday November 22nd, Sunday December 6th and Sunday December 20th. All meetings will be at 7pm at Johnston Park. We also plan to hold a Town Hall meeting in early January to review our plans for the spring season and beyond. If you have left MTAA and your son or daughter has played elsewhere recently, please consider trying MTAA again. I assure you that you will be pleased with the new and improved MTAA.
Please contact me with any comments, thoughts or concerns. There will be a direct email link on our website by next week if you wish to contact me. I am looking forward to working with many of you as part of the new and improved MTAA and seeing everyone on the fields of Cousler Park in the spring.
President, MTAA Board of Directors
